Dune: Awakening

Dune: Awakening is a survival MMO set in a popular science fiction universe. The game was developed by Funcom studio, the authors of Conan Exiles, The Secret World and Anarchy Online, among others.

Plot

The game takes us to the sandy planet Arrakis, known from the novel series Dune by Frank Herbert, which has been repeatedly adapted into films and games (including Dune II: Battle for Arrakis, Emperor: Battle for Dune or Dune: Spice Wars).

Game mechanics

Dune: Awakening combines elements of an MMO and a survival multiplayer game. The game takes place in a large open world inhabited by thousands of players. Their main task is to collect the most valuable substance in the galaxy, the so- called the spice. This requires using large machines and protecting them from attacks by rivals. Users are also engaged in gathering other resources and constructing camps, which not only act as bases of operations, but also provide shelter from sandstorms.

The planet Arrakis is famous for its harsh conditions, so a lot of time is also spent fighting for survival, limiting water consumption, taking care of the stillsuits and learning a special walking style to avoid the attention of giant sandworms.

Arrakis changes all the time. Giant sandstorms, appearing from time to time, cover up discovered locations and reveal new ones waiting to be explored. Player characters can also consume the spice, which provides access to a variety of powers.

Creating your own factions and joining existing ones plays an important role. Players can fight open conflicts with each other or try their hand at trade and diplomatic games.

Game modes

The game offers only multiplayer mode. As part of it, we can both cooperate with other players and compete with them for control of the planet Arrakis.
