Our beginners guide for the game Stellar Blade deal with combat, exploration or the topic of EVE development. You will learn about useful things that will help you start winning battles more easily and at the same time reduce the risk of suddenly losing your main character.

Are you planning to play Stellar Blade? We have prepared a set of starting tips for various mechanics, attacks, and facilitations, which are worth knowing from the first hours of gameplay. This knowledge will allow you to better handle encounters with monsters, as well as have a greater understanding of map exploration or Eve's equipment.

You can lower the difficulty level after starting the game

1. You choose the difficulty level (Normal Mode or Story Mode) when starting a new game, but the choice is not final. You can also change it during the campaign, for example, after encountering a strong boss that you can't defeat.
2. You can find the option to change the difficulty level in the Gameplay tab. On the lower difficulty, monsters deal less damage and have less health. You can also enable the option to facilitate reactions to strong attacks, which, for example, makes it easier to perform counters.

Try to pair often

1. You will learn about the parrying in the prologue. Parrying is the most important technique for responding to enemy attacks - it is activated by pressing L1 once when the enemy attacks. The parrying window is by default small, but you can increase it thanks to the Focus Boost skill (image above). Later in the game, you can also, e.g. acquire an Exospine that will make parrying even easier.

1. Eve can also use blocks or dodges instead of parries, but thanks to parries you will be able to stun enemies more effectively and ultimately stagger them for a moment. Additionally, a perfect dodge allows you to perform a strong counterattack.

You can practice moves in virtual reality

1. The terminal for purchasing new skills allows you not only to spend skill points, but also to test each skill and attack in VR. A huge advantage of this is that you don't have to worry about Eve's death, because fights in virtual reality carry no risk.
2. After highlighting the skill on the skill tree, press Square to land in VR. We recommend practicing all the basic moves (parry, dodge, blink, etc.), as well as various attack combinations. Remember your favorite combos to use them later to weaken enemies.

Unlock new camps and return to them

1. The camps in Stellar Blade are very similar to the bonfires in Dark Souls. Their primary use is free health regeneration and restoring assigned healing items. Unfortunately, they also revive defeated enemies, excluding the bosses.
2. You only need to activate each camp once and you can return to it as many times as you want. In the camps, you may also use a shop, buy skills, unlock permanent upgrades for Eve, or use fast travel.

Look for permanent upgrades in the game world

During the game you can obtain, among others: Exospines and upgrades from the Gear category, but all of these items remain active only when placed in active slots. Permanent upgrades are even more important. They are:

1. Tumbler Expansion Module - for every 3 found such items, you can permanently increase the number of uses of the Rechargeable Tumbler by 1. As a reminder, this is the main type of medicine that you can restore for free in camps. Most of these secrets are dropped by small robots that need to be destroyed.
2. Body Core and Beta Core - for every 3 Body Cores you find, you will permanently increase Eve's health bar, and every 3 Beta Cores will increase the Beta energy bar for special skills. Both of these types of secrets are found near the glowing corpses (example in the picture).
3. Weapon Core - each acquired Core can increase the attack power of your melee weapon. They are obtained from defeated bosses. Remember to collect the loot they drop.

Pay attention to different colors of enemy attacks

Besides regular attacks, monsters can also perform special attacks signalled by one out of the 4 different colors. Recognizing colors is extremely important, because you have to react differently to each of them:

1. Red attack - perform a normal or perfect parry (L1). However, be careful, as it may be a series of very fast attacks where you need to parry each of them.
2. Yellow attack - perform a perfect dodge (Circle). If you don't want to take risks, then distance yourself from the boss or start running (preferably to the side).
3. Blue attack - this requires the Blink skill (Up + Circle) and is used when Eve's weapon glows blue. The heroine will teleport behind the enemy's back.
4. Purple attack - requires the Repulse skill (Down + Circle), which must be purchased. The heroine jumps back, avoiding damage, and additionally perform an attack.

Use special attacks

During fights, in addition to standard attacks, you should also use stronger special attacks. These are divided into 3 main categories:

1. Beta skills - They are obtained form the Beta tree. There are a total of 4 different active skills to unlock and are activated by pressing L1 + skill button (e.g. L1 X). You need to have Beta energy, which accumulates gradually during battles. Some Beta skills work better on single enemies, while others work on groups of monsters.
2. Burst skills - They are obtained form the Rage tree. These are 3 offensive skills and 1 temporal buff for Eve's attacks. Activate them by pressing R1 + skill button. You Burst energy, which is gained through perfect parries and dodges, as well as using the Blink and Repulse skills.
3. Tachy Mode - After charging it, you can press the L3 and R3 to enter a rage-like mode. EVE's attacks can deal more damage for a while. You can also further develop this mode thanks to the skills from the Tachy tree.

Direct confrontation is not always the best idea

Engaging in open combat always involves the risk of death or loss of a large amount of health, although the consequences of death in the game are not serious. However, you may want to maintain full health on the way to, for example, a quest location or a boss arena. There are 2 ways to avoid direct fights:

1. Stealth attacks - You must first purchase the Ambush skill to sneak up on enemies from behind and stab them. We described stealth attacks in more detail on How to perform stealth attacks? page in the FAQ section.
2. Running away - You can run away from enemies to lose them. However, be aware that enemies with ranged attacks can still hit EVE. Enemies will stop following you after some time. This is a particularly helpful when exploring open areas - Wastelands or the Great Desert.

You can't get everywhere right away

There are several large open maps in Stellar Blade that encourage exploration (visit all the smaller regions as well). Unfortunately, EVE cannot explore all locations in 100% right away. Typical difficulties include:

1. A high ledge, bar or edge - In some locations you can move and climb crates, but others require a double jump, which you will unlock during the campaign.
2. Locked passage - You may need to obtain an passcode to unlock it. Some gates also work as shortcuts, i.e. you have to reach them from the other side to permanently unlock a given passage.
3. Environmental obstacles - A perfect example would be the flooded commercial sector in Eidos 7, where electrified water prevents full exploration. Eve must return here later in the game to lower the water level.

Destroy regular small boxes

1. The most valuable loot in the game is hidden in large containers and chests, which you always have to open manually. Some of them have some sort of security - keep doing the main missions to unlock the hacking mechanic.
2. You may also notice smaller crates in the locations you explore - EVE can break many of them with a melee or ranged weapon. Don't ignore, because you can obtain a lot of extra loot, including: gold, vitcoins or common crafting materials.

Do not quit the game without checking the date of the last save

1. There is no manual save option in Stellar Blade - you can only use autosaves. This creates the risk of exiting the game without saving your most recent progress.
2. To end the session safely, always open the main menu and select the exit option. The game will display information about how many seconds/minutes have passed since the last save. If necessary, you can force the game to make an autosave by, for example returning to a camp or using fast travel.
